Can your business afford the payment?
Lenders approve SBA loans based on repayment ability. They divide the cash your business has available each month by your total loan payments, a figure called debt service coverage.
Under SOP 50 10 8.1, SBA requires at least 1.10 for 7(a) Small loans ($350,000 or less), 1.15 for standard 7(a) loans, and 1.25 for most business purchases. If the calculator shows a payment your cash flow cannot cover comfortably, consider a longer term, a smaller amount or a larger down payment.
